About Us

Our Mission

At myKindreds.com™, we are passionate about friendship. Our lives are constantly changing and events such as marriage, a new baby, a new job, divorce (or breakup), moving or graduation cause significant disruptions to our social lives. Friends share and support us through these changes, but these changes can also cause us to need to find new friends and a new social network. Whether these changes are welcomed or dreaded, we need a social support network.
At myKindreds, our mission is to help anyone of any age easily and safely find and foster meaningful friendships at every stage of their life!

Our Solution

Today's world is busy and full of online tools to communicate with everyone from people you know to many people you don't know (and don't really want to know). Many people feel overwhelmed by these tools and find it difficult to understand what information is public and what is private. This virtual aspect of our lives has enriched us in many ways, but it has also made it more difficult to find 'real' friendships - friends that will be there for us through good times and bad. myKindreds.com simply puts you in control so that you can easily, safely and securely find and foster friendships based on your lifestyle, interests and social needs.
It is our sincere goal to be able to connect people for meaningful friendships. We want you to take your friendships from being virtual ones - where you sit behind a computer and send messages - to ones in which you schedule a time to get together for coffee, dinner, a playdate... Let's take friendships from being "virtual" and make them a reality.

Our Story

In 2009 Lorie and Donnie moved from Pinehurst to Raleigh, North Carolina with their young daughter, leaving behind their friendships and social circles. Being the great mom that she is, Lorie immediately started looking for playmates for daughter. She attended Meetups, signed up for Triangle Mommies and other organizations to make it easier to find playmates for her only child and potentially friends for herself. Unfortunately, Lorie found herself spending lots of time searching for and attending meetings that really did not fulfill her or her daughter's needs.
Lorie is also a problem solver, technologist, software developer and entrepreneur and these skills gave her the idea to create an application to solve her problem. She realized she was not alone in her search to find friendships for herself and her young child. She wanted to make it simple and safe for parents with a single child to find meaningful friendships for their child and themselves.
Donnie, also an entrepreneur, introduced Lorie to Laura Pickering, a Silicon Valley former executive of Oracle and NetApp. We then decided to expand the original idea to include all families, singles, couples and seniors. We founded Sizijee, Inc. in early 2011, started development of myKindreds.com shortly after and released our first product in early Fall 2011.

myKindreds.com is owned by Sizijee, Inc., a US-based female owned and operated developer of Internet software and applications.
